Look at this lovely package I got from Amazon the other day:
I was not expecting the beautiful embossed tin packaging. And I wasn’t entirely sure which movies would be included. When you see the words “Howling Trilogy”, you’d usually make a few assumptions.
You’d assume that there are only three movies in the series. But no, The Howling has approximately eight billion sequels. But I’ll let that slide, because it doesn’t say “The Howling Trilogy”. Nope, this is just a trilogy of Howling movies.
You’d assume it would at least be a sequential collection of sequels. But no, this is The Howling III, V, and VI.
Maybe they are tied together as a trilogy because they follow a common plot thread. But no, the only thing they have in common is that they all have werewolves. This is just a random collection of three Howling movies.
But I really don’t care, because damn, look at that packaging. Plus, I’ve long thought of The Howling V as one of my favourite movies ever, but I only saw it once when I was a kid, so a second viewing might snuff out the rosy glow that nostalgia provides.

Here are some pictures from the Body Worlds show that is at the Toronto Science Centre, where real dead people are transformed into artsy / educationy installations.

Some people were grumpy about me taking pictures. Because, you know, nobody else on the entire internet will take pictures, and free advertising is bad.
It was as fascinating this time as last time I went, with lots of new plastinates on display. Seeing the bodies up close is satisfying on a few levels. There’s the education, knowing how the awe-inspiring machine that is the human body works. There’s the “wow, one of those jiggly thing sitting out there is sitting right here inside me too” level. And there’s the morbid curiosity we all have; just the visceral thrill of seeing a dead body.
Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Growing up my best friend and I LOVED the Monster Squad. Then reunited at 19 having not seen each other in 8 years we watched it again. Its a not scary ball of cheese, but we still loved it.

When asked what my favourite movie of all time is, I often say Monster Squad. I watched it pretty recently and loved it for even more reasons than I did when I was a kid.

I wish Body Worlds weren't so artsy. But that's probably the only way they can get the masses to pay to look at dead people. I, on the other hand, would prefer to learn things from my dead people experience. And not just that you must also get your balls over the hurdle or you will be in a lot of pain. I could have guessed that one.

So is the Howling trilogy worth a Netflix spot? I havent heard about it!!
I went to Body Worlds when it was in Dallas and it was fascinating. I want to dedicate my body to them when I die.. but I want something good, like them to show off how good my calf muscles were…. but I'm pretty sure they would showcase my rotten teeth or something.

I wonder why exactly we have a fascination with dead bodies? I mean I'm not immune by any stretch, but I wonder is it because we sorta hide death in society or what? Cause I can't drive without a car wreck and not look…

Shine: Yeah I wish it was more sciencey too. At least there is some information if you bother reading all the plaques around, though it's pretty basic.
Carissa: The first Howling is definitely worth seeing if you haven't. I haven't watched V again but I remember it being good. The rest I'm not sure about.
Tatiana: Yeah maybe because it is so rare in today's world to see a dead person. It's taboo to even talk about death openly. Plus it has some adaptive value to be drawn to death; dead people are a good lesson on what NOT to do.
Jay: Yeah but I bet you could still beat most of them in an arm wrestle.

I don't know what Body Worlds is and I'm not curious enough to Google it but the photos look morbidly interesting LOL.
How long have you been buying movies vs Amazon? Care to blog some more about your reason for doing it and whether it's worth the hassle?

So, I have never been to a Body Worlds exhibit but I do have a good Body Worlds story.
A few years back I worked for a manufacturing plant and one day a delivery truck making his normal delivery also unloaded a bit coffin size metal box onto our loading dock and then just left with no explanation as to what it was. The address label had been torn off so we had no idea what it was so we had to open it. (pic of box: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/rickbman/l_63533fb658c5982c1b291f14144c4fdc.jpg )
Imagine our surprise to open the box and find body parts. Now we didn't know that it was part of the Body Worlds exhibit yet, we just knew it was a box of body parts. Now my boss decided that we have to keep it secure until we can find the rightful owner. Now, where do you think the most secure room in the building is? Why that would be the computer room, where I work. So for two days I got to work with a giant box of body parts in my office. Keep in mind we had no idea what they were just that they were body parts.
Luckily my boss was able to figure out that they were part of that exhibit and then find out which museum it was supposed to go to. I had never heard of the exhibit at that time so it just kind of freaked me out.
The best part though. One of the girls that worked there hadn't heard about it and came into my office and sees the box and asks what was in it. I told her she didn't want to know. She says “What is it, a body?” and I said “Well, it is parts of a body any way.” She got kind of freaked and ran out of the office very quickly.

I like dead bodies and stuff and i'm interested in becoming a corner but that's just gross…..i mean it would be fine if the people want their dead bodies to be contributed to art…so yeah
