Internot

This “internet” thing, it sure takes up a lot of time. So does television, and movies, and phones. And the printing press, and looms. And WTF is with running water and electricity? Screw all of it. I’m going to live in the woods until I can’t stand it any more.

That will probably be next week.

See you then.

Let me know when you are done building your treehouse with twigs and branches, equipped with water-fall-flushing toilet and trained the squirrels to preform an episode of Seinfeld.

I do not approve of this message. Technology is awesome. Sometimes. Okay, sometimes I want to hurl my phone into a lake…but it was too expensive to have to buy another one.

technology is another thing for the masses to soothe themselves with, says the guy with 3 blogs (me).

Phronk, in a serious vein, do you subscribe or can you recommend a monthly horror-type fiction mag? I have about a year's worth of F&SF but since I'm a lover of pseudopod podcasts, I kinda want to delve into the genre a bit more.

    Thanks,
    your devoted fan for today,

    I am back!

Don: I must guiltily admit that I don't subscribe to any horror magazines (unless you count Pseudopod). Probably because there really aren't many in existence these days. Off the top of my head, I've heard Weird Tales mentioned, and I think it's still around (and has been for a very long time). Might want to give that a go. I should probably look into it myself actually. Thanks for the reminder. 🙂

Hey Phronk, thanks for the reply. I actually went to one o' my favorite bookstores today, and there were a few horror/suspense titles, but they were like regular magazines, and by regular magazines I mean they had overwhelming graphic advertisements emblazoned throughout. I kinda like friendly, mostly-text digests. And do I remember the name of these mags? nope. Looks like Analog Science Fiction/Science Fact has grown a few inches around in physical dimensions, but I've preferred the quality of stories in F&SF leaps and bounds. I have heard of Weird Tales; there's Black Static (http://ttapress.com/blackstatic/) that I think originates from the UK. Mebbe some back issues are available on eBay or somethin.

Thanks for coming back. I'm glad there are still a few magazines out there, even if they're bloated. Short stories seem to be a dying (or at least hibernating) art. I'm intrigued by Black Static, which I hadn't heard of before. I love the cover art; that's something that you don't often get with online publications. A little pricey to get it directly; eBay might be an option but I don't see any there right now.

Plus for me it might be worth submitting to.

    Thanks again Donald!

Oh, shit, another audio podcast you may be interested in connecting with, I just found it through Zune Marketplace, is drabblecast. http://web.mac.com/normsherman/Site/Podcast/Podcast.html 'Weird stories writted by weird people for weird people'. The narrator/host, Norm, is, as the kids say, Da bomb. Intense/dramatic/funny as shit without being overwhelming still-reliving-college-drama days. And

Hey Don. I'm surprised I hadn't come across Drabblecast before. I just downloaded a bunch of episodes for a long walk today.

Cemetery Dance looks great too. That Peter Straub story fascinates me from the title alone. Oh and they're on Twitter! @cemeterydance

    Thanks again for all this!
